Microbiome Research is Going Global

Join us for an engaging meeting on how microbiome research and therapeutics can address global health issues. Researchers from all over the world will come to Ithaca to discuss these topics and build strong long-lasting partnerships.

Workshop

Invitation only

Monday to Thursday, August 6th-9th, 2018

The workshop will consist of a combination of talks, discussions, panels, and hands-on learning. We will focus on the intersection between human microbiome research and global health issues including infectious diseases, noncommunicable diseases, antibiotic resistance, nutrition, and food security. We will also discuss techniques to study the microbiome, cost-effective practices, and bioinformatics tools. Finally, panel discussions will focus on establishing international collaborations, funding mechanisms, ethical challenges, and the establishment of a global consortium. There will be plenty of opportunities to socialize and network including a local hike to one of the local gorges.
